Hi, and welcome to Simplify Cycling! I’m thrilled that you’re here.
I’m Erik Thomas Gallant, the cycling enthusiast and blogger behind Simplify Cycling. When bad fitness habits and a desk-bound job left me overweight and low on energy, I found myself craving a fun, vigorous hobby that would help me turn things around.
I decided to get into cycling, and bought a new road bike. As a kid of the 80s and 90s, I grew up riding bikes constantly, so I assumed I knew what I was doing. But I found the bike gear shopping process confusing, with way too many options for a newbie. With the high cost of some cycling gear and components, I felt pressure to make good choices that I wouldn’t regret.
I launched Simplify Cycling so that other people experiencing information overload can get into cycling too.
The mission of Simplify Cycling is to help people who are new to cycling. This site will aim to explain and clarify the aspects of bike buying, bike ownership, and bike maintenance that confuse and intimidate many of us.
